Episode 2: Catastrophic consequences: Miles Hunt on a decade representing people with work-related psychological injury.
Our next guest on the Mindarma podcast is Miles Hunt, an industrial officer with the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance, the union for Australia’s creative professionals.
But in this podcast, Dean Yates talks to Miles about his decade-long career as a personal injury lawyer representing employees with psychological injury claims. As Miles explains, it was persistent bullying he experienced at school that instilled in him a desire to fight injustice.
Miles paints an ugly picture of how organisations treat staff who suffer bullying, sexual harassment or other mental health issues in the workplace. He talks about the catastrophic consequences for victims of workplace psych injury.
At the same time, Miles has excellent advice for organisations wanting to create a safer workplace and look after the mental health of their staff.
I reckon Miles has good balance in his life. He’s been a stand-up comedian and remains an extensive traveller. Miles and his partner Lilli are parents to two little girls. He ran for the Senate in 2013 and was cofounder of drug law reform organisation Unharm. He’s also written a number of books. His last novel "The unfortunate death James Douglas O' Flaherty" is available online and in all good book shops.
We hope you enjoy this insightful conversation between Dean and Miles.
